General Information
Note:
Act 800 refers to the Employment Insurance System Act 2017.
LOE refers to Loss of Employment.
OB refers to Insured Person.
 
(i) The application must be submitted within 60 days from the date of LOE [Section 28, Act 800]. Delay in submitting the application will result in the benefit claims not being processed and may be rejected.
 
(ii) Kindly review and keep a copy of the application receipt.
 
(iii) The original documents must be brought along to the meeting with SOCSO officers.
 
(iv) For any enquiries, kindly contact the customer service line at 1300-22-800 or visit the nearest SOCSO office.
 
 
Eligibility Requirements
 
(i) Meet the Contributions Qualifying Conditions (CQC) i.e have sufficient number of contributions.
 
(ii) LOE according to the definition of LOE under Act 800.
a) Retrenchment
b) VSS/MSS (Voluntary/Mutual Separation Scheme).
c) Workplace closure due to natural disasters (force majeure).
d) Bankruptcy or closure of business.
e) Constructive dismissal.
f) Resignation due to sexual harassment or threat in the workplace.
g) Resignation due to instruction to perform out of scope duties that endangers safety.
 
(iii) The following are not considered as LOE:
a) Dismissal due to employee misconduct.
b) Voluntary resignation.
c) Retirement.
d) Expiry of a fixed-term contract/ completion of work/ termination of contract by mutual consent without terms and conditions.

(i) Payment will be made through Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT). Kindly contact SOCSO officers if facing any problem with EFT payment.

Notice Statement
 
(i) Completed application will be verified by SOCSO officers. Incomplete applications will not be processed and may be rejected.
 
(ii) Application must be submitted with the following mandatory documents:
a) Copy of NRIC (front and back).
b) Copy of end of employment letter (including Termination Letter, Resignation Letter, VSS, MSS or similar).
c) Copy of payslips (previous 6 months from the date of LOE).
d) Copy of personal bank account.
e) Applicants with bankruptcy status are required to submit a copy of supporting documents from the Insolvency Department and verified active personal bank account.
f) Copy of letter of employment or contract of service (from the first year until end).
g) Medical Report/Memo or Disability Notice Form (Form 34) - LOE due to health problems.
 
Supporting Documents:
 
h) Copy of police report (e.g. sexual harassment, threat etc.)
i) Copy of proof of instruction to perform out of scope duties that endangers safety.
j) Others: specify (documents related to the case).
 
(iii) Applicants are required to participate in the Re-employement Placement Programme and shall comply to any directions given by SOCSO.
(iv) Applicants are required to report to SOCSO if have accepted a job offer or have return to employment as permanent/contract/part-time/temporary/apprentice.
(v) Applicants are required to register with MyFutureJobs(https://www.myfuturejobs.gov.my/) for job search activities to be eligible for EIS benefits.
(vi) Applicants are reminded to submit EIS benefit claims on monthly basis through the portal once the application has been approved.
